Maple Ridge Concert Band
2015 Kiwanis Music Festival
The MRCB Intermediate Band put on a very impressive performance at the festival and was awarded a Silver certificate.
The MRCB Performance Band also performed beautifully and was awarded a Gold certificate.
2015 Heritage Award
The Maple Ridge Concert Band was awarded a 2015 Heritage Award in the category "Stewardship of a Community Cultural Asset" for work done towards the restoration and preservation of the Community Bandstand.
In 2014 the band celebrated the 20th anniversary of the building of the beautiful bandstand in downtown Maple Ridge with the Bandstand Birthday Bash.
Fundraising for the Bandstand Beautification Project continues so that the one remaining item to be completed, the cleaning and treating the bandstand’s copper dome for furbish of natural patina finish, can be done.
Gale Yip, president, and Tom Walker, musician and designer of the bandstand, each received a Heritage Award for their tremendous contributions to the restoration and preservation of the bandstand.
