Performance Band
​
​Dr. John van Deursen is the conductor for the the Performance Band. John is an active conductor, ensemble clinician and arranger/composer.
As a professional educator, John has worked with and mentored young musicians across Asia and Western Canada through a multitude of clinics with bands and orchestras, as Music Director of the Surrey Youth Orchestra (2011 - 2015), as Head of the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre (2009 – 2011), and as Head of Instrumental Ensembles at Douglas College from 2011 - 2021.
Prior to his appointment to the College, John was Associate Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra and Director of the Concert Winds at the University of British Columbia.

Intermediate And ABC Bands
Multi-instrumentalist, educator and conductor Geeta Das has studied, performed and taught music nationally and internationally for over twenty years and has performed with many world-renowned artists. Her music credentials include studying at Douglas College and the University of British Columbia.
Geeta is a well-known professional musician and a busy music educator in Metro Vancouver and beyond.
We are very fortunate to have her as conductor.
